THE 2016 Holden Captiva has been revealed as a single body design large SUV, meaning the Captiva 5 model will be no more.

The current Captiva 7 thus becomes simply "Captiva" but will be available in both five and seven seat options, and with a variety of powertrains and trim levels.

Styling wise, the 2016 car features a new front grille, new front fascia and LED daytime running lamps, while the cabin has been refreshed with a centre infotainment panel housing the latest MyLink technology.

The new Captiva introduces connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while a rear view camera will be standard across the range.

Holden's electrical group engineering manager, Joe Sawyer said: "Captiva's new MyLink system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone projection technology is a class leading infotainment system.

"Using the system's 7-inch colour touch screen, steering wheel controls and voice command technology, customers are able to send, read and reply to text messages and calls, access music and navigate using Apple/Google maps effortlessly."

On the safety front, Holden promises Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert on higher-spec LTZ trim cars.

Neither the new Captiva's full specification nor prices have been revealed, but the revised model goes on sale early next year.
