It's business as usual at Dalby Civic Theatre

MOVIEGOERS won't get a fright at the box office when Western Downs Regional Council takes over Dalby Civic Theatre in August.

Theatre manager Michael Pace has assured the Dalby Herald all staff will be retained when management of the theatre is transferred to the council.

"It will still be the same friendly team facing the public in Dalby,” he said.

"As far as the public is concerned it will be the same operation.”

Mr Pace said the team wasn't caught by surprise when they found out the council was taking the reins of the facility.

"Charters Towers and a couple of other places have had their councils take over the cinema and now the same thing will happen to (Dalby and Chinchilla).

"It's not an unanticipated move,” he said.

Western Downs councillor for facilities Ray Brown said managing the Dalby and Chinchilla cinemas was a challenge the council looked forward to.

"Going to the cinema is something so many of us enjoy and we're looking forward to delivering that high level of consumer experience our residents deserve,” Cr Brown said.

"Our two great facilities will continue to provide a wonderful movie experience for residents and those visiting our towns.

"This will bring us in line with other councils across Queensland who run an in-house delivery modelf or their cinemas.”
