Jordan Spieth to play in Australian Open at Royal Sydney

GOLF: World No.2 Jordan Spieth will be heading Down Under again to play in his third Australian Open.

Golf Australia confirmed the 2014 winner and 2015 runner-up would be in the field at Royal Sydney from November 17-20.

Spieth, who won the US Masters and US Open after his breakthrough win in 2014, said he was excited to be returning to Australia.

“I have really enjoyed my previous visits to Australia and I can’t wait to get back in November,” he said.

“I look back at my win in the 2014 Australian Open with great memories as it helped me build momentum for 2015.

“The Australian Open seems to grow in stature among the world’s players every year.

“The field is always strong and Royal Sydney should be a great test.”

Golf Australia chief executive Stephen Pitt said Spieth would be a welcome addition to what is expected to be a strong field at Royal Sydney.
