Nick Kyrgios served his way to a maiden ATP Tour victory in Marseille, downing 2014 US Open champion Marin Cilic 6-2 7-6 in the final.

The 20-year-old  became the youngest first-time winner on tour since countryman Bernard Tomic claimed the Sydney International in January, 2013.

Kyrgios, who also beat top-10 players Richard Gasquet and Tomas Berdych on his way to the title, became the first first-time winner not to drop serve in an entire tournament.

"I was serving really well all week," he said. "That was the main thing that was good. And I was able to put pressure on my opponents' serves a lot when I was going through my service games really quickly."

Kyrgios said he had been surprised how well he played considering it was just his second tournament of the year. He was beaten by Berdych in four sets in the third round of the Australian Open.
