Lion falls victim to Valentine's prank

BRISBANE Lions forward Michael Close thought it was just another team meeting.

It turned into something very different, thanks to a special delivery.

A Valentine's Day bunch of flowers arrived - allegedly from his mum - much to the enjoyment of his Lions teammates.

New coach Chris Fagan couldn't help himself, taking delivery of the gift and reading the accompanying card out loud.

"Dear Michael, you brighten my day and I'm so proud of everything you have done," the card read.

"We have a love like no other. Lots of love, mum."

The room erupted in laughter while Close's face resembled the Lions' maroon jumper.

A Brisbane insider confirmed the delivery was a prank with one man the suspected culprit.

Fagan was known for his pranks at Hawthorn and may just have pulled off his first at the Lions.
