Accused tells magistrate he's 'taking ages', leaves court

DEAN Gary Jaenke should have known not to annoy the magistrate.

Jaenke was in court yesterday facing two charges of breaching bail conditions.

He sat through the greater part of the morning's hearing before he stood up from the public gallery, shook his head at Magistrate Mark Morrow and started to walk out.

"Where do you think you're going?" Mr Morrow demanded.

"You're taking ages", was the response, and he kept walking.

"Come back here!" called Mr Morrow, but Jaenke continued out and shut the door.

"Get him!" the Magistrate said to prosecutor Sergeant Merrilyn Hoskins. A few minutes later Jaenke was brought back.

"What's your name?" Mr Morrow asked him, as he explained to him the seriousness of his behaviour.

"Dean," he responded.

"Dean who?" To which Jaenke was silent.

"Take him to the watchhouse," Mr Morrow said.

Jaenke is due to appear in court again this morning - possibly facing contempt charges if he doesn't change his tune.
