Man charged with attempted murder after 71-year-old stabbed
A 20-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed, punched and kicked an elderly woman, leaving her in a critical condition in a Brisbane hospital.
Kane Alan Smith did not appear before Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on Monday, but his charges were read before the court.
In addition to attempted murder, Smith has also been charged with breach of bail condition, enter dwelling by break at night and grievous bodily harm.
Magistrate Graeme Tatnell formally refused bail and Smith was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on July 2.
Ms Tatnell said Smith's appearance would not be needed at that appearance.
The court heard Smith was due to appear in court in relation several other charges on June 4, but Mr Tatnell adjourned those charges until July 2.
