Man found not guilty of child rape charge
TEARS of joy were just some of the emotions on display in the Dalby District Court last Friday, as the three-day trial of a child rape case concluded.
A Banana Shire man was found not guilty, after being accused of allegedly digitally raping a female relative.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was accused of the alleged offence in December 2014, after a complaint was made by the girl to her mother.
It was alleged that the incident occurred at the residence of the girl, while the man was visiting.
The defence claimed inconsistent statements from the child and her mother in court and to police was evidence that the rape did not take place.
The jury took roughly an hour to reach their verdict.
