UPDATE 5.35PM: CCTV footage of a Maroochydore video store attendant's terrifying robbery has been released as police search for the man who held him up.

A man wearing a face covering entered the Network Video shop on Aerodrome Rd about 9pm yesterday.

Police said the 18-year-old attendant was preparing to close for the night when confronted by the man.

Footage showed the teenager was clearly frightened by the incident, giving the robber cash from the register as well as some from the safe.

Police said he thought the robber was armed but no weapon was actually seen.

The teenager rested his head in his hands briefly after the robber left before picking up the phone.

EARLIER: A Maroochydore video shop has been robbed by a man who the attendant thought to be armed.

Police said a man entered the Network Video store on Aerodrome Rd shortly after 9pm and demanded money from the worker behind the counter.

Police said the victim believed the man was armed but didn't actually see a weapon.

A sum of cash was taken before the robber fled on foot, last seen running west along Wrigley St.

Dog squad and scenes of crime officers were called to the store but were unable last night to locate the offender.

He was described as about 185cm tall, wearing a black woollen jacket and gloves.

He was also possibly wearing a black balaclava or bandana over his head featuring a white skull logo with a blue neon outline.
