Mary Poppins is on her way to Dalby
THE cast of Dalby State High School's musical are preparing themselves with a spoonful of sugar for when they take Mary Poppins to the stage in a supercalifragilistic evening - and tickets are on sale now.
Director Janet Ash said rehearsals have been going well and the cast is excited to bring magic to the stage.
"It's a very big and fantastical show - there's lots of singing, lots of dancing, and lots and lots of scene changes," Mrs Janet Ash said.
"It's different to the movie, so there are new characters and some new songs, but the same classic songs that everybody loves are there too.
"It's full of magic and love, and connecting families - and of course, the traditional 'spoonful of sugar'," she said.
Mrs Ash said the family-centred nature of this year's performance meant that the younger students could play major roles in the cast.
Year 7 student Tiani Clark is playing Jane in the production, and has enjoyed her first year of being a part of the musical team.
"It's been amazing because you get to meet heaps of new people," Tiani said.
"I guarantee there'll be a 'supercalifragilisticexpiali- docious' performance," she said.
DSHS's production of Mary Poppins will run on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, May 23-27 at 7.30pm and Saturday matinee, May 27, at 1pm.
Tickets are available from DSHS office (EFTPOS/cash) and Stellarossa Dalby (cash only).
Tickets cost $15 for adults, $10 for students/ concessions, and $5 for children under five.
