Dalby woman named runner-up Miss Supercars
A DALBY woman has wowed the crowds at the Gold Coast 600 over the weekend and in the process been named runner-up in the Miss Supercars competition.
Michaela Arnott said she was surprised and honoured to do so well in the national event.
"To be honest after entering the online competition with 70 other entrants I was so happy to be announced as a national finalist alongside 22 girls," Miss Arnott said.
"I never expected to place second in such a well known model competition like Miss Supercars. I went into this event to boost my confidence, make new friends and to share in an experience I would remember forever.
"It was the most amazing and rewarding experience to be walking pit lane and standing front row on the grid alongside the Red Bull Racing Team was such a dream, so for that to become a reality was so exciting."
Miss Arnott, who now resides at the Gold Coast, said she has been into modelling for some time.
"I have always loved swimsuit and commercial modelling because at 164cm some competitions are a little out of my reach," she said.
"I entered a local competition for Miss Supercars three years ago and was lucky enough to place second runner-up for the Gold Coast, but never made it to national level.
"The competitions have been really fun and you get to meet so many amazing people along the way.
"The exciting part is this year Miss Supercars included both modelling and fashion categories into the competition."
The 22-year-old intends to continue her modelling career into the future, and is hopeful of continuing her involvement in the V8 Supercar scene.
"I hope to enter some more modelling competitions in the near future but for now I would love to be involved in Miss Supercars as it's such a prestigious organisation," Miss Arnott said.
