Mighty one million for Dalby Return It
AFTER being in operation for only 12 weeks, the Dalby Lifelife Return It depot has hit a massive milestone in the containers refund scheme.
In the last days of August, manager Amanda Green's team processed their one millionth container return.
Ms Green said they did not believe it when the Dalby depot hit the milestone.
"Just so fast. I know we have done a lot of containers but we didn't think a million,” she said.
"That kind of just snuck up on us.
"But we've got to thank Dalby and the surrounding areas for their support.
"A lot of people were taking it to Toowoomba so if we keep it in our little community that's better for us as well.”
Ms Green said there had been a very big response from the community when the Nicholson Street location opened.
"It has slowed down a little bit, not too much, so I think it's going to stay here for a long time.”
The Nicholson Street depot has increased Lifeline's capacity for container returns compared to its small beginnings as a drop off point at the store in the New Street Centre.
Now people can choose to sort their items themselves and get cash back straight away.
"A lot of people now do do it themselves,” Ms Green said.
"You do still get a fair few that drop their bags in, when they drop their bags in we go through it and then we put their money into their scheme ID bank account.”
