Morven Hotel Motel fire: Investigations continue

Police are still undertaking investigations into a fire that broke out at the Morven Hotel Motel on Tuesday morning.

Queensland fire have sent out an investigations team and also an insurance investigation is taking place to assess the amount of damage.

Sergeant Jerry Thoreton said the small community has varying thoughts on the unforeseen incident.

"The general community response is that some are mad and others are pretty sad considering this was the only hotel in the area," he said.

"It was the main meeting place for the community and now they have lost that.

"We will just have to sit and wait to see if the owner will look at rebuilding it."

It is believed the owner from Brisbane is considering his options.

The community remains at a loss to this heartbreaking news.

"Investigations are continuing and we will keep the public updated when we have further news," Sergeant Thoreton said.
