NEED TO KNOW: Where to vote in the Western Downs

CANDIDATES for Queensland’s state election have been viciously hitting the campaign trail in the lead up to D-Day on October 31.

The incumbent Labor government led by Annastacia Palaszczuk will be vying for a second term against Deb Frecklington’s Liberal National Party in this year’s election.

Recent polls have indicated a hung parliament could be a distinct possibility, with minor parties and independents potentially holding the balance of power if a majority isn’t seized by the major parties.

The electorate of Warrego has six candidates on the ballot, ready to serve one of the biggest electorates in Queensland.

Incumbent Liberal MP Ann Leahy will be defending her seat after she was elected at the 2015 state election.

She will go up against Rick Gurnett (KAP), Joshua Sanderson (The Greens), Mark Stone (independent), Joshua Coyne (One Nation), and Mark O’Brien (Labor).

The Dalby Herald has compiled an ultimate list of where residents in the Western Downs can cast their votes in the lead up to, and including election day on October 31.

Voting is compulsory in Queensland, with non-voters to be issued a fine following the election.
