North Bundaberg man charged over child porn photos

A 42-YEAR-OLD North Bundaberg man has been charged with multiple child exploitation offences and indecent treatment of a child following an investigation by the Crime and Corruption Commission and the Queensland Police Service.

The man was initially identified by the CCC during an ongoing investigation that focused on individuals accessing and distributing child exploitation material online by using peer-to-peer software.

The CCC executed a search warrant at a Bundaberg North address on Tuesday.

During the search, they found a number of computer and electronic storage devices.

An analysis of the computer equipment was done which allegedly found a large amount of child exploitation material, including image and video files.

The CCC was assisted by Bundaberg's Child Protection Investigation Unit and the 42-year-old man was taken to the Bundaberg watchhouse where he was charged by the CCC with one count of possessing child exploitation material and one count of using a carriage service to access child pornography material.

He was also charged with one count of using a carriage service to make available child pornography material and one count of disobeying a lawful order issued by statutory authority.

The man initially appeared in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Wednesday and was remanded in custody.

Upon further analysis of the material seized, police will also allege the man indecently treated a child under the age of 12.

The 42-year-old man was charged by Bundaberg CPIU officers Wednesday afternoon with 28 counts of taking photos of a child under 12 years of age who was under his care and one count of indecent treatment of child under 12 under his care.

The additional 29 charges were mentioned in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court Thursday morning.

The man did not apply for bail and he was remanded in custody with the matter adjourned until July 7.
