North Burnett man bitten by pig

A MAN from Queensland's North Burnett region is in danger of losing his right thumb after being bitten by a pig.

The bite, which happened near Eidsvold, caused multiple fractures to the man's hand and severe injuries to his thumb,  about 200 kilometres inland from Bundaberg, on Thursday morning.

An RACQ CareFlight Rescue crew was called to fly the man from Eidsvold Medical Centre to Bundaberg for surgery.

A spokeswoman for the emergency service said in addition to the fractures in his hand, the man suffered severe tissue damage in his thumb.
