On the run: Mackay alley robbery leaves victim shaken

A MAN has been left shaken after he was attacked and had his bank card stolen during a robbery in the Mackay CBD this morning.

Police allege an unknown man approached the male victim as he walked from Wood St into an alley way that led to a car park about 1.15am.

They said the offender physically restrained his victim and then demanded he hand over his money.

The victim has then lost possession of his wallet and mobile phone as they were removed from his pockets.

A female cyclist who was passing by stopped to confront the unknown man.

Police said the offender then dropped the mobile phone and wallet onto the ground before leaving the area on foot, in possession of a bank card belonging to the victim.
