Fuel tanker rolls over seven cars
ONE person died yesterday after a fuel tanker rolled over seven cars on a Melbourne freeway.
Six people were taken to hospital, mainly with upper body injuries. The dead person had not been named at the time of going to press.
Witnesses said the truck was avoiding a car that swung into its path on the Calder Freeway about 8am.
Up to 20,000 litres of fuel spilt over the road and into a nearby creek.
The freeway was closed all day as more than 40 firefighters sprayed foam on the spilt fuel, and ambulance officers worked to free people.
