
Woman veers off highway after lane-merge gone wrong
UPDATE: 2.30 pm A DRIVER who lost control of her car and drove off the Bruce Hwy, crashing into an underpass below, escaped serious injury.
The 66-year-old Sippy Downs woman was trapped in her car when it came to rest on its side against and embankment on Frizzo Rd, Palmview just after 9.30am.
A spokesman for Queensland Police Service Media said the woman, who was driving south in a Holden Commodore, veered onto the grass median strip after a failed lane-merge.
"A truck was in the lane the car was going into," he said.
"The (car) driver veered across the lane from right to left and possibly clipped the back of that truck and has gone off to the right again, and then across the grass.
"(She) then crashed down between two bridges."
Fire crews worked to stabilise the vehicle and free the driver, who complained of abdominal pain and other injuries.
She was taken from the scene near Aussie World about 10.30am and transported to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition.

UPDATE: 10:45 am A 64-year-old woman has been freed from the wreck of a car that crashed onto its side off the Bruce Hwy at Palmview.
The vehicle came to rest on its side on the side of the Frizzo Rd underpass about 9.40am.
A spokeswoman for Queensland Ambulance Service said the woman was being transported to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition.
Fire crews are still at the scene where the smashed car is lying on its side.

Fire crews are working to stabilise a vehicle that is lying on its side at Frizzo Rd, just off the Bruce Hwy, before they try to remove the person inside.
Paramedics are on the scene but are not able to reach the patient.
