Patient begins petition for nurse Steven Conn
IN light of Steven Conn not getting his contract renewed at Dalby Hospital, one of his patients has taken it upon herself to fight for increased shifts for the nurse.
Rhonda Crawford has been cared for by Mr Conn on numerous occasions, and now Ms Crawford feels it's time to return the favour so has begun an online petition.
"Steve is an absolutely terrific nurse,” Ms Crawford said.
"He is so understanding of me and takes great care of his patients.
"He spoke to the media in fear of his life and the life of his colleagues. I'm absolutely shocked there's no security at the Dalby Hospital.
"I've spoken to so many patients- elderly patients fear coming here because of the drugs and the street drugs which affect people.”
The petition already has 500 signatures, with MsCrawford hoping to get as many as possible before sending it to DDHHS director of nursing western Tracey Morgan.
"I just want Steven to get his work back,” MsCrawford said.
"People like that are absolutely necessary. I truly believe Steven deserves an apology - he was done so wrong.
"I had an issue there a couple of months ago where no one could calm me. Steven came over and within two minutes had calmed me down and I was able to go to sleep.
"I was just at the hospital on Monday doubled over in pain at the bench and Steven saw me. He came over and put his arm around me to make sure I was OK.
"Doctors, nurses and staff are in a position where they come into work with anxiety, and wonderful people like Steven shouldn't have to feel that way.”
