A COUPLE'S dog was viciously attacked at an off-leash beach on the Sunshine Coast, leaving the much-loved pet needing emergency surgery.

‎Rose Mae Penberthy-Gwyther‎ and her partner were returning to their car after time at an off-leash beach when their dog Marley spotted two "huge" great danes.

"(He) went up to say hello and have a sniff, as he walked over to them the two dogs started to brutally attack Marley - they would have killed him if my partner wasn't there as the owner wasn't strong enough to hold them back," Rose said.

Marley was rushed into emergency surgery with multiple deep wound over his body and needed 20 stitches and two drains.

If anyone knows a lady that walks her two massive black dogs around Mountain Creek, Mooloolaba, along Nicklin Way or around Buddina beach can you please tag her so we can get in contact with her?" Rose asked.
