Pigs run to victory for WOLF
THE utes were revving, the pigs were running, and the crowd was on their feet at the Bowenville Hotel on Saturday for the annual pig races and ute show.
The race day, held in conjunction with Women of Lot Feeding and raising money for RACQ Lifeflight, was a success by all accounts.
Bowenville Hotel owner Gary O'Keefe said this year's event might be the biggest yet.
"It's always a good day. A lot of families come out and there's people from everywhere,” he said.
"I've been here for about nine years, and have actually just sold the pub and will be out next week.”
The ute show consisted of 29 utes, with Amy Litfin taking home prizes in categories of Chicks, Street, People's Choice and Paintwork.
The pig races, run by Noah's Farm, were a big hit, with audience members betting into the hundreds.
Margaret Harrison, community liaison officer for WOLF, said it had been a successful day.
"It was a very good day ... I'm not sure how many people were there and we haven't worked out the exact amount of money raised, but I think everybody had heaps of fun,” she said.
"There was a very good turnout, and the utes were all great as well.
"We want to say thanks to all the sponsors. We couldn't do it without them.”
