Players here to party as Netfest hits Coast courts

Avid Sunshine Coast netballer Louise Puschmann has high hopes her team can be among the best when they "party and play" alongside thousands during the world's biggest outdoor netball festival.

Puschmann and her XL Surf team will hit the court in Division 7 for the four-day Netfest, which will be held across Mooloolaba and Maroochydore from Thursday.

It's the third time the region has hosted the event, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, with more than 2500 netballers expected to participate.

Puschmann said her team, which competed in the region's B-grade division, finished third last year but was eager to see them go even better this time around.

"Some of the A-grade girls have come into our team this year so we've got high hopes," she said.

Fast5 netball will kick off the festival on Thursday evening at Maroochydore Multisport Complex, with social, mixed and competitive games hitting the courts at Fisherman's Rd from Friday to Sunday.

Beach netball will also be played in front of Mooloolaba Surf Club from Friday to Sunday.

"It's brilliant having it here and I think we have the best facilities in Queensland," Puschmann said.

Puschmann said the atmosphere on and off court made for an action-packed and fun-filled few days of netball/

"It's so much fun, there's music and there's dancing," she said.

"There's lots of stuff that happens and there's a lot of partying the whole weekend as well.

"It's not just how you can play netball, you've got to be able to party and play netball."

Netfest was estimated to be worth about $8 million to the region in 2018.
