PM Tony Abbott gives his tie away on Mackay visit

THE Prime Minister left more than just budget promises in Mackay - he also left an item of clothing.

His tie in fact in the hands of Steve Geiger, owner of Steve Geiger Cabinet Making, where he'd visited yesterday morning.

"I asked him for his neck tie, he willingly gave it to me," Mr Geiger said.

"Thank you very much to the Prime Minister."

Tony Abbott said the Federal Budget was the "best budget ever for small businesses".

Mr Geiger said he felt lucky Mr Abbott had chosen to visit his workshop.

He said he saw the benefits of this budget, which included a tax break for small businesses.

"To get a tax benefit like that straight off the cuff will be a great thing," he said.

Mr Geiger said not only did it allow him to upgrade tired machinery, hopefully it would allow him buy much needed new equipment.
