Police search for third person in relation to shooting

UPDATE: POLICE are searching for a third person of interest allegedly involved in a shooting in Caboolture linked to a Gympie siege.

23-year-old Gympie man, Tallen Steven Hames, may be able to assist police with their enquiries.

Police believe Tallen Hames may be in the Gympie, Sunshine Coast or Maryborough areas.

He is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 180cm tall, of a slim build with dark brown hair.

Anyone who has seen Tallen Hames, or knows of his whereabouts is urged to contact police.

12:00 PM  Man arrested after siege, now on charges of attempted murder

POLICE have charged a 34-year-old Gympie man with attempted murder, following last night's siege in Lawrence St, Gympie.

The arrest is the sequel to investigations into a shooting incident at Caboolture last month, Police Media said this morning.

The man was also charged with dangerous conduct with a weapon, entering a dwelling with intent and unlawfully possessing explosives, in the form of ammunition.

A man was remanded in Gympie Magistrates Court a short time ago.

He is due to appear again on May 11.

The arrest follows the arrest of a 23-year-old woman last week, also charged with attempted murder.

She in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday and is due appear again on May 25.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.

Man rushed to hospital after four hour siege

UPDATE: A MAN has been taken to hospital after a police cert team raided a house in Lawrence Street in Gympie tonight after a siege which lasted almost four hours.

Police were called to the scene just after 5pm, blocking off the street and surrounding a two storey Queenslander.

Nearby residents were told to stay in their homes and could hear the negotiations taking place as well as several loud "bangs"

"Come out now," police told the man through the loud speaker.

"Turn the lights on and leave your weapons behind."

When a man believed to be the alleged armed person's father was brought in by police to talk through the loud speaker, he was heard begging his son to leave the house and give himself up to police.

"Please come out. I love you," he said.

"Come out mate. I really need you to come out."

The negotiator then said, "Do the right thing and come out. Come out so dad won't worry."

The father was heard to break down at one stage.

At around 8:20 pm, specially trained police officers released stun and gas grenades into the home. 

Police dogs were released into the ceiling space of the house to try and find the alleged armed man.

Police say there were no hostages in the building.

The house is in lock down and a man is assisting police with investigations.

A SIEGE is unfolding in Gympie in the heart of the city in a normally quiet residential street.

Police have blocked off Lawrence St and have surrounded a two storey Queenslander.

The bullet proof clad men of the Special Emergency Response Team have been called to the scene as well as police dogs and nine police cars.

Police are trying to negotiate with what they believe to be a an armed man inside.

Residents have reported hearing several loud bangs, but are unsure if it was gunshots or police lobbing stun grenades into the house.
