Police charge woman over 4WD and caravan Fitzroy River crash
ROCKHAMPTON police have charged a 40-year-old woman with disqualified driving after the 4WD and caravan she was driving ended up in the Fitzroy River last night, a Queensland Police spokesman has confirmed.
At about 8pm, emergency services crews responded to reports a car had crashed into the river and when they arrived on scene they found a 4WD towing a caravan in the water near the Reaney St boat ramp.
The vehicle, which had all of its windows down, did not go down the boat ramp, but rather down the bank further towards the mouth of the river.

Crews extensively searched both the vehicles, the bank and the water, but could not locate any occupants.
The QLD police spokesman said the woman charged claimed the brakes failed on the vehicle and that is how the incident occurred.
Crews planned to tow the vehicles out of the river today.
Investigations are ongoing.
