Knife-wielding robber turned away in failed heist

POLICE are appealing for the public's help to identify a man who attempted to rob an Ipswich convenience store on the weekend.

About 7.10pm Saturday a man armed with a knife entered the Ripley Rd, Flinders View business and threatened staff, demanding money.

When his demands were refused the man damaged property before running off empty handed.

No one was physically harmed.

The man (pictured below) is described as Caucasian, 180-190cm tall and of slim build.

He was wearing a black baseball cap, black jumper, grey tracksuit pants and had his face obscured by a cloth.

The attempted robbery at Flinders View was one of three similar incidents in Ipswich over the past week.

A Churchill man was charged with the armed robbery of a West Ipswich convenience store on Thursday night.

Police are still investigating another incident, where a man who stormed into a Brassall pizza shop with a handgun last Tuesday night left empty handed after a worker fled out the back.

Anyone with information that could assist police can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Information can be given anonymously.

Meanwhile, a North Ipswich man Jai Presad, 22, has been charged over an armed robbery at the Night Owl convenience store at Indooroopilly.

Presad allegedly handed himself in to Ipswich police last Friday night.
