Police identify 30yo remains found in Brighton septic tank

THE body of a man found at Brighton on November 29 has been identified as Wayne James Youngkin who was last officially sighted in 1986.

Mr Younkin was a resident of the North Street address where his body was found and it appears a period of time lapsed between the time he went missing and the time he was reported missing.

The last official records of Mr Younkin, who was born in 1956, being alive is a passport application he made in 1986.

A post mortem identified the remains using dental records, a watch, ring and clothes found with the body, cross referenced with photos of him wearing the clothes.

Police wish to speak to a male who phoned Sandgate Police Station on August 22, 1992 with information about Mr Younkin's disappearance and his cause of death.

Acting Detective Superintendent Mick O'Dowd said investigations were made after the phone call but they are urging the caller to contact them again now the body has been found.

The cause of death has yet to be determined but it was considered a suspicious death as soon as the body was found.

The body was found in a pit near an administration building on the site of Austism Queensland's Brighton school.
