Police respond to hold-up at Coffs Harbour bank

A COFFS Harbour man has been arrested in relation to an attempted bank hold-up at Park Beach this morning.

Shortly after 9.30am, a 36-year-old man allegedly entered the Commonwealth Bank branch at Coffs Harbour's Park Beach Plaza and approached a 21-year-old female bank teller.

The man allegedly threatened and demanded money from the teller and hold-up alarms were then activated.

Police attended shortly after and the man was arrested inside the bank.

He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station to assist officers with their inquiries and was later charged with intimidation.

Coffs-Clarence Crime Manager Darren Jameson said no weapon had been produced or sighted during the incident.

"It's my understanding no on one was injured during the incident but the 21-year-old teller was visibly shaken and upset," Insp. Jameson said.

The bank had been busy at the time of the incident as it had just opened for the day's business.
