Police search reveals 20cm rifle bolt in suspect's anus

WARWICK police were surprised yesterday when they discovered a suspect's secret hiding spot for his weapon.

During a strip search of the 21-year-old man, police said they noticed something "poking out" of his anus.

Further information about the insertion, extraction and what triggered the man to insert a 20cm-long piece of heavy metal inside his rectum were unclear.

The suspect was arrested at 9.50am yesterday on unrelated charges.

It was 20 minutes into his stay at the Warwick watchhouse that police allegedly made the crack find.

The man has been charged with weapons offences, as a rectum is not an approved storage facility.

Police hope to get to the bottom of the mystery in coming days.
