Porsche driver found parking in 'emergency vehicles' zone

A PORSCHE driver has been spotted parking illegally in an "emergency vehicles only" zone, reserved specifically for firefighters, police and paramedics.

The Porsche Boxster S was photographed after lunch on Saturday as other drivers hunted at a snail's pace for a park at Kawana Shoppingworld on the Sunshine Coast.

The zone is marked with bright yellow diagonal lines, the words "Police, Ambulance, Fire" painted across them.
A second sign above the park also warns the spot is for "emergency vehicles only".

The driver stayed in the car park a matter of minutes before driving away.

Queensland Police Service confirmed the driver would face a fine if caught by authorities.

Depending on the specific wording of the sign, he could face a $50 fine and lose up to three points from his licence.

The punishment if caught by the shopping centre management could prove much worse.

A spokeswoman for the centre said police had the right to remove the cars "upon first sight and without warning".

If discovered by the centre's security, however, the driver would be told to move their car over the shopping centre's speaker system.

"If the car remains in the emergency services bay, centre management will then arrange for the towing of the vehicle."

She said no cars have been towed from the site.

Police also confirmed they do not use late model Porsches as unmarked police vehicles.
