Pregnant fiancee of killed truckie survives horror crash
A SOUTH Australian truckie was killed and his heavily pregnant fiancee miraculously escaped the mangled wreckage after a horror smash only kilometres from their delivery site at a country vineyard.
The couple had been travelling all night to deliver wine grapes when the 60-tonne semi-trailer jack-knifed on a steep hill on Perdrisat Rd in Maude, near Geelong, Victoria, about 2am yesterday.
The 40-year-old driver, Kevin Porker from Lowaldie near Karoonda in the Murray Mallee, was killed instantly.
But in a harrowing tale of survival, his 39-week pregnant fiancee, Stefanie Teixeira, who had been sleeping in the cabin during the long journey from Robinvale, managed to crawl out of the mangled wreck alive.
