Queensland Governor opens the 148th Dalby Show
CELEBRATION and pageantry was put on display at the Dalby Showgrounds this morning.
The 148th edition of the Dalby and District Show drew special guests to its opening ceremony.
Agriculture Minister Mark Furner was on hand along with guest of honour, Queensland Governor Paul de Jersey.
Mr de Jersey said he was thrilled to be a part of the festivities, stating it was a privilege to be able to enjoy one of the marquee shows in the Western Downs.
"I am particularly pleased to see that the wonderful musical talents of the young people of Dalby will be showcased in the program,” Mr de Jersey said.
"I want to extend my sincere congratulations to the hard working show committee.
"We can all see the results of the committee's hard work and dedication here today.”
The governor spent an hour and a half at the Dalby Show, observing both pavilions as well as the stud cattle.
There were plenty of patrons in early at the showgrounds, with show society life member Rob Parsons stating it was one of the highest intakes of people in the first hour of the show in a number of years.
The Dalby Show will run today and tomorrow, with plenty of entertainment both days.
