Queensland's cool change not so cool after all
IT was a chilly start to the day across much of southeast Queensland this morning as temperatures plummeted to single digits.
The mercury at Wellcamp Airport, west of Toowoomba, dropped to a frosty 2 degrees while Amberley hit a cool 6.8 degrees - 7 degrees below average.
In Brisbane, the temperature hit a low of 13 degrees at 5.30am while the Gold Coast woke up to temperatures as low as 14.5 degrees.
"In the southeast, it hasn't been quite as bad as we expected," BOM weather forecaster Michael Paech said.
"We should be getting an improving trend from today in terms of maximums being that little bit warmer around the southeast."
Yesterday was the coldest day in Brisbane since October last year, with the temperature barely reaching 22.2 degrees.
Brisbane is forecast to hit a top of 25 degrees today and conditions along the coast are expected to be fairly windy.
