Quilting for a good cause

THE Western Downs community is filled with talented and generous people who use their skills to help others.

The Dalby Quilting and Applique Club are using their talents to raise funds for three organisation who have helped members of the community.

Bush Kids, Dalby Crisis Centre and Lifeflight will all see the benefits and support of the Stash Buster 2020 to be held on February 2 at Gallery107@Dalby.

Event organiser and member of the quilting club Liz Ryan said the event started from a donation of fabric.

“We were donated a lot of fabric to make charity quilts because we always make charity quilts for premmie babies in Brisbane,” Mrs Ryan said.

“When we were donated all this fabric they said, use it for whatever your want, make charity quilts whatever.

“So Lorelle Schick who is the president of the club came up with the idea that we would make quilts out of what we had but we’d also make other items as well.

These items were to be put on display for the public to enjoy and would be available to purchase with the profits going to charity.

The hard work from club members will be on display at Gallery107 from February 2 to 22 with the items for sale taking up the ground floor of the gallery and other items created by club members over the years to be displayed on the top floor,

President of the Dalby Quilting and Applique Club Lorelle Schick wanted to extend a special thank you to Gallery107@Dalby.

“The interesting part has been the creativity that’s come out of the community and the generosity of people.

“(The gallery) have given the facility free of charge because it’s for charity and they will provide their staff for the hanging and presentation.”

Part of the fundraising efforts will be a Tombola raffle. Tickets are $50 each and will give 20 winners the chance to go home with a great prize.

You have to get in quick if you want a ticket in the Tombola as there will only be 100 sold.
