Rain puts a dampener on region's carols but not spirits
SOMETIMES a Christmas miracle comes in a form other than one might expect and so it was with a local downpour.
While the predicted rain on Saturday was a relief for many, the annual Carols by Candlelight event had to be cancelled due to the weather.
The event was set to take place in Anderson Park, beginning at 6pm with a smorgasbord of food and drinks, followed by carols at 7pm.
Mayor Paul McVeigh said the event would unfortunately not go ahead but that the rain was appreciated.
"A Christmas gift to the rural community could come in no better form than the rain,” he said.
"Unfortunately it means the Carols by Candlelight event won't be going ahead this Saturday.”
