Spate of dope offences sends Downs man to jail
A TARA man will spend the next month behind bars after he was repeatedly caught with cannabis in his possession.
Police executed a search warrant on the home of Ethen Shane Damschke, 26, on January 21 this year.
Officers located a bag containing 14g of cannabis and a water pipe used to smoke the drug.
He pleaded guilty to possessing dangerous drugs and drug utensils, and permitting use of a place when he appeared in Dalby Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
Police prosecutor Derek Brady said Damschke's criminal history was littered with identical offences dating back to 2008.
Defence solicitor Michael Bond said his client was not using the drug.
"All I can say, based off my instructions, he has turned over another leaf," Mr Bond said.
"He pleads for another chance."
Magistrate Kay Ryan handed Damschke a suspended jail term when he appeared in court in June last year.
"This man has got a two-page criminal history," Ms Ryan said.
"I put you on probation - it didn't work. I've given you a suspended sentence - hasn't worked.
"You won't be going home today. You will be going to prison."
Ms Ryan sentenced Damschke to a total four months in prison.
He will be released on parole on March 24.
