Record participation for annual carnival

DALBY State High School has had one of their most successful swimming carnivals to date, with a total of 720 students participating, and nearly half a dozen records broken.

Mitch Hemmings, Mitchell Sternes and Jessica Bliesner all broke records in a number of their events.

Sport teacher Cameron Miers said the competitive events were the ones to watch due to the high calibre of swimmers in each race.

"We've got some exceptional swimmers at the moment,” Mr Miers said.

"It's a pretty good year. The big 50m freestyle races for the open boys and open girls were probably the two blue ribbon events, so they were the big ones.”

Staff and students donned their very best attire for their annual carnival, which saw some unique outfits and outstanding results.

Bunya took out the top prize in the inter-house competition in a tight race against Miles, who won the championship last year.
