REVEALED: Dalby schools with the most suspensions

DATA released from the Department of Education has revealed which state schools in Dalby handed out the most suspensions in 2019.

The data has been broken up into both short and long suspensions, as well as exclusions and cancellations.

A short suspension can last from one to 10 days, according to the Department.

Dalby State High School handed out 197 short suspensions in semester one last year, and 160 short suspensions in semester two.

Dalby State School placed second on the list, having handed out 38 suspensions in semester two, and 32 in semester one.

Dalby South State School only gave out 10 short suspensions in the entire year.

Dalby State High handed out 37 long suspensions for the year, which can last from 11 to 20 days.

Dalby State School recorded two long suspensions for the year, and Dalby South State School gave out one long suspension in 2019.

An exclusion lasts for an extended period of time, and can be given out for persistent disobedience, misbehaviour, harmful conduct in or out of the school grounds that affects other students, or if the student poses a risk to the safety or wellbeing of other students or staff, according to the Youth Advocacy Centre.

Dalby State High gave out two exclusions in the year, and Dalby State School had one.
