Rider breaks leg after hitting deer on highway

AN injured deer is on the loose in Brisbane's southside after it ran onto the Centenary Motorway and was hit by a motorcyclist on Thursday night.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said the rider was in a stable condition after suffering leg and elbow injuries in the crash on the Centenary Motorway at Mount Ommaney.

Police said a deer had a broken leg and not yet been captured following the accident, which occurred just before 8pm.

A spokesman said the animal was seen running near the large roundabout which connects Dandenong Road and Glen Ross Road.
