Right as rain on Darling Downs as showers drench region

FARMERS across the region got the showers they've been looking for as the last window for planting winter crops approaches.

Gardeners in Toowoomba have welcomed rain, with 41.2mm falling since yesterday.

Warwick was absolutely drenched with 67.6mm falling around the city.

Elsewhere on the Darling Downs Applethorpe got 42.4mm, Dalby 10.2mm, Miles 22mm and Oakey 34.6.

Meanwhile Stanthorpe received 23mm, and Wellcamp Airport 26.2mm.

Today there is a 20% chance of light showers across the Garden City and winds will blow at 30 to 45kph.

It will be a cold day with the mercury likely to peak at 14 degrees.

As of 6am the apparent temperature was just 5 degrees.

For the Darling Downs and Granite Belt a surface trough lying offshore on the southern Queensland coast is dominating weather conditions.

The Bureau of Meteorology says a high will shift slowly southeast over Queensland during the next few days, extending a ridge and mostly fine conditions into the state.

A series of weak upper troughs will extend high cloud through far southern Queensland on Tuesday and Wednesday.

This cloud should thicken on Thursday as a new trough approaches the state.

There is a 40% chance of showers in the south this morning and almost zero chance of rain elsewhere.

There is a chance of a thunderstorm this morning, mostly in the south.

Daytime maximum temperatures will range between 15 and 18 degrees.
