Roads closed in Dalby and surrounds due to flash flooding

THE southwest is relishing in more heavy rainfall this weekend, however travel is anticipated to be interrupted due to flash flooding over major roads.

According to the Western Downs Regional Council Conditions Report, the Moonie Highway has been closed due to flooding thanks to approximately 400mm of water covering the road.

Edward street at the weir has been closed due to river from the Myall Creek covering the weir, as well as Kleinschmidts road at Bell, between Quigleys lane and Sprintflat road.

Caution should also be exercised when driving on the Warrego Highway between Dalby and Miles due to potholes that have been filled with water from the rain, and Drayton street between Bunya and Nicholson streets because of water over the roads.

Queensland Police and Queensland Ambulance Services are reminding drivers of the "back it up" rule, telling drivers to not risk it when driving towards roads covered in water.

Elders Weather anticipates Dalby will continue to receive rain and possible thunderstorms until Thursday next week.
