UPDATE 1.15PM: There are reports sections of bitumen have lifted from the roadway at Marmor, south of Rockhampton. 

While the Bruce Hwy remains open at 12 Mile Creek at Marmor, motorists are urged to drive to conditions as traffic has been reduced to one lane.

UPDATE: 9.06pm: 

CHAOS has erupted on the Bruce Hwy as flash floods sink the Bruce Hwy.

About 40 vehicles are currently banked up on both sides of the Bruce Hwy at Bajool, which has been cut by water across the road.

It's understood many more motorists have turned back.

The Morning Bulletin's Matt Holdsworth is at the scene.

"The water is about 300mm deep, and it's just flash flooding across the highway," he said.

"It looks like it's in two main spots near the explosives factory."

He said it appears a third flashpoint at Oaky Creek could go under soon as well.

CHAOS has erupted on the Bruce Hwy at Bajool as flash floods shut the road.

Traffic has banked up on the Bruce Hwy.

It is believed about 300-400mm of water is flowing over the Bruce Hwy.

More roads have gone under across Central Queensland after a deluge dumped down overnight.

8am: There are reports of 300-400mm of water flowing over the Bruce Hwy at Bajool. 

It's understood the road will soon be closed to all but heavy vehicles. 

There have also been reports that one entrance to Frenchville State School is inaccessible due to flash flooding. 

Principal Leisa Neaton said teachers will remain at the school, but parents are encouraged to keep children home. 

6.35am: A Queensland Police spokesperson said the Bruce Hwy was closed to all traffic in both directions 3km south of Marlborough about 1.20am. 

The township has been isolated, with the road also cut about 10km north. 

There are reports sections of the Rockhampton-Yeppoon Rd have been cut, with police on scene saying the road may open again within the hour depending on weather.

Police are monitoring two sections of the highway at Headlow Creek and Limestone Creek, where water is running over the road. 

4am: The Bruce Hwy remains closed 15km north of Marlborough due to flooding.

 Transport and Main Roads website says it was closed about 12.10am all lanes blocked in both directions with long delays expected.

 Heavy rain continues to fall across the area, 200km north of Rockhampton, with almost 90mm of rain recorded since 9am Wednesday. 

Further north St Lawrence has received 116mm of rain since  9am Wednesday.

UPDATE: 7.48pm: 

THE CAPRICORN Highway is the latest victim of flash flood wreak havoc across Central Queensland roads.

Blackwater police have issued an alert to motorists that the highway between Blackwater and Bluff.

"Whilst it doesn't look deep at the start, it is deep on the Bluff side," Blackwater police said in a Facebook post.

"Please do not drive through flooded roads … If it is flooded, forget it." 

EARLIER: 

AS EX-Tropical Cyclone Debbie makes her way through the Central Queensland region today, daily falls of up to 200mm and possibly higher are expected.

A Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) spokeswoman said officers are inspecting all roads now.

Reports came through early this morning that the Bruce Hwy near Marlborough was underwater, but the spokeswoman said there is "currently no water over the road there yet".

"We will continue to monitor throughout the day," she said.

Over the past few days and overnight the region has been soaked, resulting in flash flooding and the closure of many local roads.
