Robust discussion on CSG held
THE University of Queensland held a meeting to dissect the social and economic changes in Dalby and surrounding communities before, during and post CSG on Wednesday.
Many different findings were presented during the discussion, including the fact that business incomes in Dalby were still four to seven times higher in 2017 than they were pre-CSG.
Though not all impacts were positive, with average house prices dropping from just under $300,000 in 2009 to just over $200,000 last year.
Researcher Dr Katherine Witt declared "this isn't my story, this is your story”.
"There were clearly impacts that were occurring as a result of all four (CSG projects) operating at once ... people were becoming concerned about the cumulative affects of those,” Dr Witt said.
"So we started understanding the communities and the underlying structure and dynamics of them.”
