Roosters show the door to Shaun Kenny-Dowall

THE Roosters have released veteran centre Shaun Kenny-Dowall from the remainder of his contract, effective immediately.

Kenny-Dowall was stood down by the club in May after he was allegedly caught in possession of cocaine at a nightclub in Sydney.

"Shaun has made a significant contribution to the Roosters' on-field success across his 13 years at the club, and for that, we thank him," said Sydney Roosters CEO Joe Kelly.

"The club wishes Shaun all the very best in the future," he added.

The Kiwi international has played 224 matches for the Tricolours since making his debut in 2007.

The 29-year old has scored 121 tries for the club, behind only former teammate Anthony Minichiello and was part of the 2010 and 2013 grand final sides.

He becomes the second player to be release by the Roosters in the past week after utility forward Paul Carter was let go.
