Sand reads feet rather than books for fascinating stories

FEET aren't known as a particularly flattering part of the human body.

Overgrown toenails, dirt, smelly, fungus, rough and cracked skin all typify what most people attribute to the things that get them from point A to B.

But for reflexology specialist Sand Mew, feet offer so much more.

For more than 14 years, Sand has been helping people understand themselves better and find wellness in their lives, among other things, through their feet.

While Sand uses a combination of several health therapies such as naturopathy, herbalism, and multiple massage practices, the foot reading makes her services unique.

"Your whole entirety is represented in the feet," she said.

"Not only your physical ailments, but also what you think and feel, where you've been and where you're going, your strengths, gifts and blockages are written in your feet."

As a child Sand was unhappy with the look of her own feet and was jealous of her mother and sister's ability to fit into nice high heels.

But after travelling the world and spending years learning about the body, Sand now embraces any type of foot, including her own, no matter the imperfection.

A person does not need to make an effort to prepare their feet for a successful reading.

In fact, Sand believes that the more natural the foot is, the more insight into the person she can gain.

If a person doesn't look after their feet at all, for example, it can often indicate that there are deeper issues that need to be addressed.

In addition to reflexologist and foot reader, Sand has many titles beside her name, including remedial massage therapist, naturopath, nutritionist and metaphysical life coach.

With a particular focus on the mind-body-spirit connection, she believes the answers to mindful problems can be found by listening more closely to the body.

As such, the range of issues Sand offers resolutions to is broad and she does so in the form of several one-on-one sessions.

Clients can partake in premium reflexology and foot-reading sessions, a footprint analysis session and transformation pack, and the Path to the Empowered Practitioner Program.

She also runs two-day reflexology workshops, and Dream/Goal Setting Seminars.

Sand's work on addressing the mental and emotional part of the being through treatment of the body largely challenges that of conventional medicine.

Having practised all over the world, Sand has met many sceptics.

In saying this, however, she has found that the uniqueness of what she practices also attracts people who are curious to learn more - no matter where she is.

With little to no competition on the Sunshine Coast in her specific field, Sand's The Footprint Connection, based in Mount Coolum, has enjoyed great success.

"I love the Sunshine Coast, not only for its amazing nature, but also for its great, open-minded and dynamic community," she said.
