Schooner brings driver undone

A 33-YEAR-OLD woman said she misjudged the amount of alcohol in a schooner of beer when she blew twice the legal limit.

At Ipswich Magistrates Court this week, Kristel Gay Barrow pleaded guilty to driving over the middle alcohol limit.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Brad Dick said Barrow was pulled over by police in Booval at 6pm on March 30.

She told police she drank four schooners of mid-strength beer during a three-hour period.

She was given a breath test and returned a blood-alcohol reading of 0.101.

Barrow said she made an error in judgment as she thought a schooner of beer equated to less than one standard drink.

She was convicted and fined $500 and disqualified from driving for three months.
