Shorten shrugs off dismal result
LABOR leader Bill Shorten has rejected a poll showing just 15% of Australians see him as "preferred Prime Minister".
The latest Newspoll shows voter support for Mr Shorten as preferred PM has shrunk to levels not seen since Simon Crean's reign as opposition leader in 2003.
Mr Shorten said he shared the nation's relief at the removal of Tony Abbott as prime minister, but Malcolm Turnbull had not yet been "tested" by any major economic issues.
"The real test will come when he has to bring down a budget," he said.
