Mossy still gets the nerves before shows: video

SEASONED musician Ian Moss started playing guitar at 11 years old.

"So that means I've been playing for 10 years," the Cold Chisel singer and guitarist joked.

Ian Moss will perform at the Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre in June.

He spoke to Pulse today while on some downtime, watching a Britain's Got Talent dance audition.

"I am a fan of this show. I don't mind the Australian one too.

"But don't ask me to be on one of those chair turning shows," he said.

Now on his solo acoustic tour, Moss says he still gets nerves, even after performing for more than 40 years.

His Six Strings tour has already taken him around Australia for theatre shows and others which were more intimate.

"I'm getting more comfortable with the solo thing.

"At first I would be thinking, 'Where is the rest of the band?'" he said.

"The beauty of solo though is that I have so much more control.

"I can get to a certain line of a song one night and think this needs to be screamed to the world, and then the next night it could be brought down to a whisper.

"You just can't do that when you're with a band."

He is playing some Cold Chisel classics including Bow River, Tucker's Daughter and Choir Girl with a mix of some of his originals and new songs.

He has recently returned from Nashville where he worked on new material.

"Down Along The Track is about a forgotten country town which is slowly wearing down because of the economy and the train isn't going to run there anymore."

"Then there are plenty of good old relationship songs too."

The Australian respected musician will return to Gladstone for a show at the Entertainment Convention Centre.

It will be a chance for fans that missed out on his Agnes Water show last year to see him live in action.
