Southern Star Academy of Dance ready to deliver showstopper
Dalby State High School's Great Hall will be moving and shaking tomorrow night as some of the areas finest dancers light up the stage.
The Southern Star Academy of Dance is hosting its annual winter recital, with students excited to hit the stage for their first show of 2017.
Founder of the academy Danielle Small said the winter recital is unique.
"It's an opportunity for our students to take to the stage; most dance schools only do one recital at the end of the year but I find our kids love being on stage and I like giving them another opportunity to do so,” Mrs Small said.
"It gives the kids a chance to show their parents what they have been working on in class so far this year.”
Mrs Small said all of the academy's pupils are invited to dance, with a wide variety of genres hitting the stage.
"We will have at least 150 students dancing and about 50 routines, so it's a good night.
"We'll have our ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, contemporary and musical theatre.
"It's also a good opportunity for the Eisteddfod team to dance in front of their families, because they usually have to travel to do so.”
Mrs Small said the students have been practising since February, and is hopeful the town comes out to witness the fruits of their work.
"I'd encourage everyone to come along and support our kids and our community.”
The event begins at 5.30pm.
